Mort, by Terry Pratchett

Mort (Discworld, #4) Mort by Terry Pratchett

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Title character Mort is apprenticed to Death. Why Death chose him is a mystery at first, but all is revealed eventually. One of my favorite Discworld novels so far (I haven't read all by any means yet) - this is a great mix of humor, fantasy and adventure. Recommended to anyone who likes fantasy, satire, parody or just plain fun. A good read.

I've only read two (the first and another, which I can't recall right now) of the Discworld books, but plan on reading them all. I think they're hilarious, and definitely remind me of the Hitchiker's Guide books. You should also check out "Good Omens," which Pratchett wrote with Neil Gaiman. It's been a few years since I've read it, but it was my introduction to both authors.

Knowing your love of Pulp, I'm sure you really enjoyed Cohen the Barbarian. :)

Hi Chris,
I did read "Good Omens" and thouroughly enjoyed it. Like you, it was my introduction to both Pratchett and Neil Gaiman, and both are now among by favorite authors.
You're right about Cohen the Barbarian being one of my favorite characters, but wait till you read Sourcery and meet his daughter Conina the Hairdresser and her boyfriend Nijel the Destroyer...
